Epilogue
The West was not like anything she had imagined. Of course, she had only been able to look at everything and everyone from a distance. If she would be spotted… Well, she wouldn’t be get away easily. It was already like that in the East- she could only imagine how it would be over here! The prana glowed softly in the moonlight above her, and she pulled her blanket a bit closer. She was used to sleeping in forests, but the prana made it so different from before. If only her mother was here with her now… What would she have said? She would probably have something wise to say, as always. But her mother wasn’t here anymore. Her mother was…No. She wouldn’t allow herself to go down that trail again. Her mother was gone, and she had a life to live. Through the leaves of the trees and the prana, she could see the stars twinkle in the night sky. At least the stars were the same everywhere. Once again, she remembered the visit she had had a couple of weeks ago. It was as if one of the stars had descended from the sky just for her. The Guardians… They were truly something else. Celestial beings, immortal souls to guard the well-being of the very Earth she was living on. And they had asked her for help. “Something is stirring in the West. Something that is out of our control. We need you to go and stop it, before it is too late. This could ruin us all. Please, go. There is no one else we can ask. This string of events needs to be broken.” How could she have forgotten those words, that voice in her head? Well, she would do it. She would do whatever she was capable of to stop the end of the Earth. Her mother would have expected nothing less. It was her task now, hers alone, given to her by the Guardian Fiume. But for now, she needed rest, because the capital was still far away and she had only four hooves to bring her there. |
