Epilogue

The spring sky was dark. Even with so many stars twinkling in the skies, it was still dark inside the forest. The river flowed calmly as the small dark pony slowly walked by. This was not the first night she was here, and it would definitely not be the last. Her small wings meant freedom. Freedom to go as she pleased without her father or sister being able to hold her back. Not that they had ever noticed her leave. Heck, for all they knew, she was lost in a deep sleep.

She didn't know where she was going, but she knew she had to move around. She knew she had to search and look, because there simply had to be something she could do. There had to be something, anything... she just hadn't found it yet. And she probably wouldn't in this little forest, but her wings were not trained enough to carry her over long distances. She had grown weak indeed.

Of course, she had noticed the presence of the Guardian before she ever saw her. Being what she was, no guardian could hide from her.
“What do you want?” She snapped into the darkness of the night, not knowing nor caring what direction the Guardian came from.

You shouldn't be here alone. It's not safe.” The guardian said. She had heard this voice so many times before now.
“Fiume...” She sighed. “Why are you here?” She asked as the guardian appeared over the river. Well, of course she would. The Guardian shone in the starlight, making it way to bright to her taste.

I'm here to ask you what you think you are doing. What is on your mind?” The guardian asked.
Such a silly thing for a guardian to ask. If they wanted, they could easily figure it out.
“You know what's on my mind. I won't accept the way things are now.” She said.
You can't change reality...” Fiume whispered.

I never said I would change it. I just won't accept it.” She answered.
There is nothing to accept. It's the way things are... trust me, I'm just as sad as you are, but...”
“You don't know ANYTHING!” She yelled at the sparking figure that hovered over the pitch black river. “How can you even think you know something about feeling sad? You didn't lose anyone! I won't- I WON'T accept it! I don't know what I will do, but trust me, I will not leave things the way they are now!”

As she galloped away from Fiume, she could still hear the guardian whisper in her head.

Oh, Câlin...”
