About me

Hello there, nice to meet you! In this little part of the website I will tell you a little bit more about myself. My name is Aien and I am the author of Royal Destiny. I was born in 1985 and I live in the Netherlands. I am currently studying history at university and I hope to be finished within 2 years (I'm so slow!).

Ever since my earliest childhood I have been a collector of My Little Pony. As a little kid, I just loved visiting flea markets with my father to pick up my little ponies which I did or did not have yet. When, in 1997, new My Little Ponies were announced I was obviously thrilled. Like most collectors, I was rather surprised to see how different they were from the originals I love so much, but I soon decided ponies were ponies, and I began to collect them too. I have been collecting MLP ever since. When my collection as largest I had over 900 ponies (march 2006), but I have downscaled my collection to +/- 600 right now, as I have no space to store them and I have decided to collect only the ones I really love instead of trying to "get them all".

My other hobbies, apart from writing and collecting MLP are anime and manga (Me and my boyfriend currently have a collection of over 300 manga and over 100 anime dvd's) and games like World of Warcraft and pokémon. I also really like drawing (even though I'm not very good at it yet) and recently I have gotten into RPG-ing (real life RPG's, not on forums or in games). I also love animals but since we are not allowed to have pets in our apartment I only have 2 gerbils at the moment. I also have a dog, Simba, but he lives at my parents place.

Another aspect of my life is music. Music has greatly influenced my writing of Royal Destiny, but also the creation of other stories and my general mood overall. My favourite composer is and will always be Kajiura Yuki. Her music has touched me so much, it is hard to put in words. Her use of vocals and flutes is brilliant. If you want to try out some of her music, I can recommend the soundtrack of .hack//sign, Tsubasa Chronicle and Madlax.
